What is quate?

Quate is a simple free web application for keeping your life in balance. Today we have more opportunities and freedoms then at any other time in history. We also have more hectic lives where things can slip through the cracks. What sidetracks us from the life we intend to live, more often than not, is the area of our life that we ignore - that we're not even aware of. Anyone who has every fallen off a diet can tell you that it was probably that little item they never got to at work, or the unexpected bill, or the fight with their spouse that lured them away from their goal. Quate tracks every area (called arenas) of your life and pinpoints trouble areas, even when you're consciously aware of them.

Where does it come from?

The current free web application has been more than 17 years in the making. After five years of development, it was compiled into a computer program called "Emotions Manager." Since 1996, various versions of the Emotions Manager program have been used throughout the world by individuals, universities, top executives, therapists and sports teams and has received critical acclaim. (See excerpts of reviews below). And you can still dowload a free copy of the original Emotions Manager software at www.quate.us.fm. Quate, the web application, is the culmination of 17 years of experience with how people use the program, what works best and what features are most important. We made it into a web application so that it is available anywhere you can get online and made it more relevant to today's search for a self-defined quality of life. It is easier and quicker to use than ever before.

Does it work on Mac or PC?

One of our main reasons for making quate a web application was to make it available across all platforms. It will work on a PC, a Mac or Linux system. In addition, since it's a web application, you will instantly benefit from any tweaks or updates of the program without having to do anything.

What about security?

We have taken great pains to make sure that your personal information stays personal. First, you are not required to provide your name in order to register. Your email is required solely so that we can send you your password should you forget it. Neither your user name nor email address is kept with your entries and we employ state of the art encryption to protect your information. Of course, you should always be careful in protecting your information by choosing a username, password and security question that no one will be able to guess. If you are concerned about someone accessing your account, it is best not to allow your browser to store your username and password.

What if I want to delete my information?

To delete all of your information, including your username, password, email address AND all of your entries, simply go to "My Profile" and click on "Delete my account." We do not save any of the information you have entered when you choose to delete your account.

Can advertiser's see my entries?

Absolutely not! The only one who has access to the information in your entries is you! Please read our privacy policy for all information regarding the limited advertising we permit on the site.

Do I have to use "SHOUTOUT"?

No. Shoutout is a feature that allows you to email and entry to someone your trust to ask for their advice. It is an option we added based on user feedback but it is never required. Only use Shoutout to send entries to people you trust.

Some Reviews of the Emotions Manager software:

04/23/2008: Yewell's Jewels, The Lab with Leo Laporte

Emotions Manager 2000 is an easy-to-use intuitive software program for maximizing the benefits from your reactions to everyday events, thoughts and emotions.

08/23/99: Leonard Holmes, Ph.D., Mental Health Resources Guide, About.com

"Self-help books have proliferated to assist people in learning more about themselves and their emotions. Self-help software attempts to do the same thing. One such program is called Emotions Manager 2000. It appears to be more useful than a book, because it helps you record your emotions, think about your emotions, and review the history of times you have had similar emotions. If it lives up to its promise, this software can also be a useful adjunct to therapy. I've explored this product and I think it has promise."

"The option to "review" allows you to browse through prior entries to "identify trends or scripts which are limiting your life." You can browse all past entries, entries involving a certain emotion, entries involving a certain arena in your life, or a combination of emotion and arena (such as "anxious" about "spouse"). Here the power of the computer is used to used to help you see trends that might not otherwise be evident."

"The help system is quite useful and it gives you tips about how to use the software to "correct false scripts" in your life. This is another concept shared by affect theorists and cognitive theorists. Emotions Manager simplifies this theory and makes it useful."

5/23/98: Felecia Constance Rowe, Executive Director, The Institute for Advanced Mind Research (IAMR).

"The Emotions Manager [version 1.2] is a wonderful and powerful application that gives the user a considerable advantage in handling and managing his or her various emotional states... An astute and honest look at your 'trends' will help you stop thinking the way you do. I regard the program highly and love the ease of use, the professional edge of such a small program, and simplicity of its design and usage. You don't have to be a therapist or a member of Mensa to fully utilize the program to it's fullest extreme...."
